About the Project

This project involves the strategic and planned burning across a diverse landscape during the early dry season to reduce the risk of late dry season wild fires. The Artesian range is located adjacent to the Kimberley coast and protects nearly 173,000 hectares in the only part of Australia to have experienced no mammal extinctions.

Project Co-Benefits

Co-benefits include:
1) Local indigenous employment
2) Reducing the negative impact of wildfires
3) Increasing the extent of “old growth” vegetation and dispersing it more evenly across the landscape
