About the Project
This project involves the strategic and planned burning of savanna areas during the early dry season to reduce the risk of late dry season wild fires. Charnley River is the gateway to the Artesian Range which is situated in the only part of Australia to have experienced no wildlife extinctions.
Project Co-Benefits
Co-benefits include:
1) Local indigenous employment
2) Reducing the negative impact of wildfires
3) Increasing the extent of “old growth” vegetation and dispersing it more evenly across the landscape
